Overview

Pencak Persahabatan is Sendeng Teratai's annual friendly silat meet aimed at providing a safe, inclusive and meaningful platform for pesilats to experience competitive pencak silat while fostering friendship, sportsmanship and mutual respect amongst participating perguruan. More than a competition, the event serves as an opportunity for athletes, coaches and officials to learn from one another, build confidence, and strengthen bonds within the wider silat fraternity.

Designed to simulate the structure and atmosphere of formal competitions, Pencak Persahabatan provides participants with valuable competitive exposure in a supportive environment where learning and development take precedence over results. The event also serves as an avenue for clubs to prepare athletes for larger competitions, while promoting the values of discipline, humility, resilience and respect that underpin the practice of pencak silat.

Objectives

1. Provide Meaningful Competitive Exposure

To provide pesilats with a structured and supportive competition environment where they can apply their techniques, develop competitive confidence, and gain valuable match experience regardless of their competitive aspirations.

2. Strengthen the Silat Fraternity

To foster friendship, mutual respect and collaboration amongst participating perguruan by bringing athletes, coaches, officials and families together through healthy sporting competition.

3. Promote Learning and Sportsmanship

To encourage continuous learning through constructive competition, exposing participants to different styles, strategies and approaches while cultivating discipline, humility, resilience and respect for fellow pesilats.

Target Group

Pencak Persahabatan is open to pesilats from participating perguruan across the Singa, Macan, Pre-Teen, Pre-Junior, Junior and Senior categories.

The event welcomes both experienced competitors and those stepping into the competition arena for the very first time. The event is designed to provide every pesilat with an opportunity to experience the excitement and discipline of competition within a safe, supportive and developmental environment.

For novice competitors, Pencak Persahabatan serves as an introduction to the competition setting, helping them become familiar with match procedures, officiating, etiquette and managing competition nerves. For experienced athletes, it provides an opportunity to sharpen techniques, test tactical approaches and gain valuable ring experience ahead of larger competitions.

Ultimately, Pencak Persahabatan is not solely about winning medals or determining champions. It is about celebrating the spirit of silaturahim through pencak silat, encouraging continuous improvement, and nurturing confident, respectful and resilient pesilats who strive to become better practitioners with every competition.
