The title of Peer Support Leader is awarded purely based on character, rather than skill or seniority in training. PSLs are expected to demonstrate integrity, humility, respect, and a strong sense of responsibility in their conduct both within and outside training.
Identification
Peer Support Leaders are marked by a yellow band at the tip of their belt, symbolising their commitment to mentorship and community spirit within Sendeng Teratai.
Role and Responsibilities
Act as a role model for other pesilats by upholding discipline, respect, and perseverance in training.
Provide guidance and support to fellow pesilats, particularly those who may need assistance in training or personal development.
Encourage a positive and inclusive training environment, ensuring that all members feel welcomed and supported.
Report concerns regarding training etiquette, safety, or personal well-being of peers to instructors when necessary.
Expectations of Conduct
Peer Support Leaders are expected to demonstrate exemplary behaviour at all times, both in and outside of training.
Any misconduct, abuse of authority, or behaviour that contradicts the values of Sendeng Teratai may result in the revocation of the appointment.
Non-Permanent Appointment
The appointment as a Peer Support Leader is not permanent and is subject to continuous review by the instructors and senior leadership.
A pesilat’s designation may be revoked or reassigned should their character or behaviour no longer align with the principles of the role.
Commitment to Growth
Leaders are encouraged to continue their personal development, actively learning and improving both as martial artists and as individuals within the community.
The role is not a position of superiority but one of service, responsibility, and mentorship.
