At Sendeng Teratai, we are constantly on the lookout for passionate and like-minded individuals who are eager to give back to the silat community. Whether you are an experienced practitioner or someone with a heart for community service, we welcome you to join us in our mission to nurture values, discipline, and heritage through Silat.
We are currently seeking volunteers for the following roles:
1) Volunteer Coaches’ Aide
Minimum age: 21 years old
Ideal for individuals with a background in martial arts—especially Silat—this role involves supporting our coaches in managing classes, mentoring younger pesilats, and ensuring training sessions run smoothly. This is a valuable opportunity for those interested in coaching, youth development, or cultural preservation.
2) Volunteer Photographer
Capture the spirit, movement, and energy of our trainings, matches, and community events. If you have an eye for detail and a passion for storytelling through visuals, we would love to have you help us document the journey of our athletes and the vibrant life of our club.
If you're keen to contribute your time and talents, we would be glad to hear from you. Together, let’s continue to build a strong, supportive, and values-driven silat community.
3) Admin & Logistics Support
Minimum age: 18 years old
Ideal for detail-oriented and organised individuals. This role includes helping with attendance tracking, managing inventory (equipment and uniforms), coordinating event sign-ups,
and ensuring our operations run efficiently behind the scenes.
4) Event & Competition Crew
Minimum age: 17 years old
Suited for energetic, hands-on team players who enjoy the excitement of events. Volunteers will assist in setting up match areas, coordinating athlete calls, supporting referees and coaches, and managing venue logistics during competitions and showcases.
5) Social Media & Publicity Assistant
Minimum age: 17 years old
Great for creative minds—especially those with experience in content creation, photography, writing, or graphic design. You will help manage our social media platforms, design posts, draft captions, and amplify our digital presence across Instagram, Facebook, and beyond.
6) Fundraising & Sponsorship Liaison
Minimum age: 18 years old
Best suited for outgoing individuals with strong interpersonal skills and networks. Your role includes identifying sponsors, drafting partnership proposals, and helping us build sustainable community support through fundraising initiatives.
7) Youth Mentor (Special Projects)
Minimum age: 21 years old
This role is ideal for individuals passionate about education, mentorship, or youth work. You will support the holistic development of our young or at-risk pesilats through weekly check-ins, life-skills discussions, and character-building activities. Prior experience in mentoring or counselling is a plus.
