Sendeng Teratai is deeply committed to the promotion and holistic development of pencak silat, striving to nurture this rich martial art tradition through diverse roles and opportunities, afforded through three primary track, namely 1) Immersive Track, 2) Leadership Track and 3) Nurturing Track. This vision encompasses a wide spectrum of involvement, recognizing that each individual, regardless of their capacity, plays a vital role in the growth and sustainability of the silat community.
Immersive Track
From stepping into the arena as a pesilat mastering the art, to representing the discipline as a dedicated athlete competing on local and international stages, Sendeng Teratai encourages excellence and passion in every individual. Pesilats of good character may also strive to be Peer Support Leaders and role models within the perguruan.
Leadership Track
Additionally, Sendeng Teratai invests in the future of silat by empowering coaches who guide practitioners with their expertise, instilling discipline and values. It also upholds the role of the Guru as torchbearers of tradition and wisdom, preserving the cultural heritage of silat while adapting it to modern contexts. Coaches and gurus are to be morally upright citizens of Singapore and model good values befitting of a leader in Singapore's Malay society.
Nurturing Track
Beyond personal participation, the organization values the contributions of Team Managers who provide crucial logistical and moral support, ensuring smooth operations and fostering camaraderie among athletes. It also appreciates the invaluable efforts of parent volunteers, whose commitment strengthens the community spirit and nurtures young talents. Parents or pesilats who show interest towards silat as a sport may become certified Wasit-Juri.
Through this inclusive and multifaceted approach, Sendeng Teratai aspires to create a thriving ecosystem for pencak silat, uniting people from all walks of life in their shared passion for this art form.
